freeFall Theatre brings audiences this underrated musical comedy from the award-winning composer of The Phantom of the Opera and Sunset Boulevard. Tell Me On a Sunday follows a young English girl who has recently landed in New York. Brimming with optimism, she sets out to seek success, companionship and, of course, love. But as she weaves her way through the maze of the city and her own anxieties, frustrations, and heartaches, she begins to wonder whether—in fact—she’s been looking for love in all the wrong places. The show contains some of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s most-treasured songs, including "Tell Me On a Sunday,” “Come Back with the Same Look in Your Eyes” and “Unexpected Song.”

Fat Pig
Cow. Slob. Pig. How many insults can you hear before you have to stand up and defend the woman you love? Tom faces just that question when he falls for Helen, a bright, funny, sexy young woman who happens to be plus-sized – and then some. Forced to explain his new relationship to his shallow (although shockingly funny) friends, he finally comes to terms with his own preconceptions of the importance of conventional good looks. Neil LaBute’s sharply drawn play not only critiques our slavish adherence to Hollywood ideals of beauty but also boldly questions our own ability to change what we dislike about ourselves.

Middle School and High School Youth Jazz Jam with the Al Downing Tampa Bay Jazz Association
Youth Jazz Jam, Last Saturday of the Month 1-3 PM at Pinellas Community Church. On the south side of St. Pete on Saturday, August 31, 2024, a handful of adventurous high schoolers shuffled into The Pinellas Community Church. These students were among the first to participate in the first Al Downing Youth Jam, a jam session created by Dwayne White. Mr. White, a jazz educator and mentor in St. Pete, led the students, teaching them important musical and philosophical concepts. The first and arguably most important of these concepts was listening. Students often become focused on their technique and may overlook what is right in front of them. Mr. White reminded them of the old adage, “We have one mouth and two ears.” The students participated in a legendary jazz exercise called “trading,” which requires players to listen closely and respond to each other by exchanging musical phrases. A breakthrough moment finally took place when a young, beginning saxophonist named Bentley softly started playing. He shyly introduced himself to everyone. Unfamiliar with the music, he improvised, a key component of Jazz. Mr. White guided Bentley through a simple two-note melody from Duke Ellington’s "C Jam Blues," while the other musicians cheered him on. This is Jazz in action: a community coming together and riffing on a tune. Join us for a fun afternoon of practice and play! All instrumentalists and vocalists are encouraged to participate. Parents and supporters are welcomed to stay for the session. See you there!

Tail of the Bell
A razor sharp new play that you won’t forget! When a teenage girl misses her tutoring session, her mother begins asking questions. The tutor says it’s nothing. The girl isn’t answering her phone. What follows is a tense, twisting cross-examination between a man who may be hiding something — and a woman who refuses to be misled. Tail of the Bell is a battle of perception, power, and performance — where memory is malleable, and everyone has a version of the truth. If you love gripping storytelling, crackling dialogue, and theatre that keeps you thinking long after the curtain falls, this is the show for you.

I Am a Mistery

October 10-11, 2025 at 7:30 PM
Location: The Studio@620, 620 1st Ave S, St. Petersburg, FL 33701
I Am a Mistery
Join us for I Am a Mistery, a play based on the life of the enigmatic Amanda Lear. Throughout her life as a model, artist’s muse and disco queen, Lear—who has been linked to both Salvador Dalí and David Bowie—has denied and yet playfully fueled the rumors that she is transgender. One of her teasing disco songs—the deliberately misspelled “I’m a Mistery”—inspired this play’s title. Written by Margo Hammond, the play is directed by Bob Devin Jones, with performances by Eugenie Bondurant, Michael Gregory, Mary Rachel Quinn and Jim Sorensen who all appear in multiple roles. Beginning on an imaginary set of the now defunct To Tell the Truth quiz show where two female actors and one male actor all claim to be Amanda Lear, I Am a Mistery explores the lives of these multiple Lears. So who is the real Amanda Lear? “Come decide for yourself at this play about gender matters that will have you pondering whether gender matters,” says Hammond. After the October 10th performance, the play’s creative team will curate a talkback about the play’s themes: society’s obsession with gender and labels and the importance for artists to find their own unique ways of defining themselves. You are invited to join in the discussion.

Deathtrap by Ira Levin
From the author of Rosemary’s Baby and The Stepford Wives comes a play The New York Post calls “a classic thriller.” Comfortably ensconced in his charming Connecticut home, Sidney Bruhl, a successful writer of Broadway thrillers, is struggling to overcome a dry spell which has resulted in a string of failures and a shortage of funds. A possible break in his fortunes occurs when he receives a script from a student in the seminar he has been conducting at a nearby college—a thriller that Sidney recognizes immediately as a potential Broadway smash. Sidney’s plan, devised with his wife’s help, is to offer collaboration to the student for co-credit. Or is it? Deathtrap provides twists and turns of devilish cleverness, and offers hilariously sudden shocks in such abundance that audiences will be spellbound until the very last moment.
